Let's Sew!

Are you ready for some sewing action?

"Sewing" is a great activity for our little guys. It gets their fingers moving and allows them to improve their fine motor skills. It also gives them a chance to make something they could wear. Is there anything better than a cheerio bracelet?  You look awesome and you can carry around your afternoon snack at the same time!

Here are some tips on how to make an easy sewing experience for our wee guys........
  • I use wool and tape to create the "thread and needle".
  • cover the end of your wool (about 3 cm) with some tape to make a rigid "needle" effect.

  • you can use a variety of materials to "sew":  cheerios; fruit loops; large pasta; pieces of fabric; pieces of rigid paper.
  • this creates a perfect opportunity to explore different textures and talk about colours....and just have fun!
