What can we do with our empty plastic bottles? Well the possibilities are endless.
One great thing about using our empty plastic bottles is...it costs us nothing. We are just recycling our used materials.
At school I have made some activity bottles mixing interesting liquids and materials. The little guys love them and carry them all around the room.
The first batch I made were super easy. I just used oil, water, food colouring and glitter. When they are shook they create an interesting shimmering world to watch.
Next I tried different liquids which would slow down the materials in the bottles. In one I used hair gel and marbles. The gel is thick and the marbles move very slowly. In the next I used corn syrup and rocks. Again the rocks move very slowly through the syrup and if you hold it up into the sunlight you can see a lovely glow.
Lastly I made two "I Spy" bottles. In one I used corn meal and small sponge letters. In the other one I used rice and small toys. Shake and move the bottles to discover what is inside. Talk about what you can spy. This is great activity for language development...and is just plain fun!
Just click on the video below to see Betty and I explore the bottles that were made.
